Factorio headless: boring reliability beats clever

Factorio rewards operators who respect deterministic saves and predictable upgrades. The official wiki documents application directories and config locations — bookmark Application directory so you never guess where server-settings.json actually landed.

Autosave is your incident response plan

Set autosave interval to match how much factory progress you are willing to replay. Large modpacks inflate save size; pair tighter autosaves with disk monitoring so you do not silently fill the volume.

Public games and firewalls

Publishing to the public game list implies UDP reachability and sane latency. If you are self-hosting from home, read port forwarding first — Factorio players notice packet loss immediately.

Blueprints for hosting

Want headless on a managed stack with snapshots and off-host monitoring? That is squarely in our wheelhouse — tell us your mod list and peak factory size.

We run this as a managed service.

Dedicated game servers with backup discipline, mod-aware update windows, and an operator who reads crash logs.
