Terraria hosting: crossplay without the mystery errors
Terraria’s dedicated server is straightforward until NAT, mismatched versions, or an unclear answer to “who has the authoritative world file” gets in the way. The community-maintained Terraria Wiki server page is a solid anchor for defaults like 7777 TCP and launch flags.
Version lock-in is a feature
Mobile and desktop clients must agree on game version. If you auto-update clients but not the server (or vice versa), you will generate support tickets that are not bugs — just drift.
Passwords and griefing
A server password is cheap insurance for friends-only worlds. For anything public-facing, add moderation tooling and backups — see snapshots.
